Suzy Leigh - Stellar

Gaining sufficient recognition to get entry and access to gigs is not easy, so you have to give something.  I started off by giving away my photos, and still do, to bands like Stellar – (that’s Suzy – the frontline punk singer – she’s magic).

I give my photos freely to the bands and performers, their agents and promoters. I don’t have a “sales” pitch.

I work with and support Pro Guitar and Sound a great resource for all your music requirements and advice  from guitars, to amps, to pedals, earplugs, sheet music, wind and keyboards, percussion … they have the lot.  Pro Guitar & Sound !

I have some chums who produce “ Home Brew Radio“, a weekly program of “100% Aussie Music”.  These are good blokes … Brommers & Noddy, Matt and Rufus Onfire.

Brommers & Noddy with Iva Davies from Icehouse

Here they are :- Brommers on the left and Noddy on the right and I support them at every opportunity.  They get around to a lot of festivals to interview performers – I am their photographer.  We have a joint objective – to support “Real Aussie Music” !

I have joined the Board of my local radio station 2HHH 100.1 where I am trying to draw on my financial skills, experience as a director and consultant – and strategic input.

Cat Swinton at Catalyst PR Public Relations gave me a bit of a start at the Sydney Blues Festival.

The people you meet on the way up are the same people you meet on the way down – I don’t forget my friends.

All the Get Shot T’shirts are decorated by my good friend Tim at North Shore Screenprinting.

You will always get a good deal at North Shore Screenprinting.  If you’d like a Get Shot T-Shirt, just drop me a line here at Get Shot Magazine.

Lastly, I have formed a strong relationship with Tony Cini and support his “Blues Explosion” initiatives at every opportunity.  He is a great guy who believes in promoting the blues in Australia, so I have no difficulty at all in working with him, taking photos at all of his gigs as front man of the Ginhouse Blues Band and those of his associated artists.

I am proud to be associated with

I think it important to nurture these relationships, taking care not to take them for granted, respecting any entrees they create.
