The TheGIMP – excellent freeware – if you can’t afford Photoshop.
I tried Google’s Picasa – drove me nuts – copies of the same image all over the place – forget it. I also bought and tried Lightroom – idiosyncratic and irritatingly “all things Adobe” – like a mad woman’s breakfast – hated it. Too much, too hard and it wants to manage everything for you. It’s the MYOB for photographers … hopeless if you know what you are doing.
Portrait Professional – great, but I only use it sparingly – as most of the girls I know are already gorgeous “as is”. I do most if any touching up in Photoshop (|;-)}. Here below is a shot of Jasmine Rae … processed ever-so gently in Portrait Professional
.
See what I mean, she really doesn’t need it, so I don’t use Portrait Professional at all these days.
The images are hosted now at Smugmug and mapped to www.johnsnelson.com.au which is hosted by Aussie HQ.
I have moved the platform from Typepad to WordPress.
Get Shot Magazine domain is hosted by Fat Cow and I use a theme called Modularity from Graph Paper Press
