Dolores O’Riordan, the lead singer with the Irish band, The Cranberries, has died aged 46.

A statement described the death as sudden. her body was found on Monday 15 January at a Park Lane hotel in London. “At this early stage the death is being treated as unexplained,” the statement read.

The Cranberriesstarted up in Limerick, Ireland and became international stars in the 1990s with hits including Zombie and Linger that transfused popular songs with a bit of stick and rock.

The Cranberries had two No.1 albums in Australia.  In 1994 No Need to Argue was a huge success and then in 1996 To The Faithful Departed was a huge success.

The band split up in 2003 but reunited several years later.
