Nevilles
The Nevilles, top show at the Bayview Tavern last night. Great stuff, they were having far too much fun. Luved 'em. Lead by Mark Marriott on the tins and skins, fronted by Jonny Gardinar guitar and vocals and the stunning Claire Cassidy with Phil Grove fingering the keys and a striding bass from Daniel Blaze. [...]
Coaster Festival – Gosford
Gosford, Saturday afternoon, to shoot a few acts for Home Brew Radio – what a great day it was too. Good festival, well organised and supported. Some great performances from Slow Down Honey, Strangers, Taylor & The Makers, One Dollar Short, Something With Numbers, Andy Bull and the Potbelleez. See below for brief review and more [...]
Potbelleez
Half Irish electro-pop, arm-waving, adulation-seeking band certainly had the short, tight denim girls panting – quite taken with Blu on keyboards myself, very entertaining. More pics in sidebar of Potbelleez, a great band to photograph. Loved 'em.
Andy Bull
Mmmm … talented, some well-written songs here, no doubt about that. Think he had a few probs with the gear on the day, no matter I didn't get enough, as we got chucked out of the photographers' pit too early. I'd like the chance to catch him on another occasion. A few photos only of [...]
Something With Numbers
Being an accountant myself, I took particular interest in this rock-solid firm, established in 1999, and found them to be nicely balanced, solvent, full of beans and deserving of credit. More image statements of Something With Numbers here. They'd look great if they all wore suits.
One Dollar Short
Punk band from Terrigal, still short of coin – dollar's gone up but buys less, band's got more front, lots of kickass and attitude from One Dollar Short here. Great stuff.
Taylor & The Makers
Bluesy, shades of reggae or bluegrass, one size fits all, Mick Jagger on bongos, bespoke music off the hook. More photos of Taylor & The Makers on the peg here.
Strangers
This is metal, you know black threads, hair, tatts, a few armpits, ridiculously funny posturing, flaccid grrrrrunt. Bring it on. Photos of The Strangers here. Gimme more.
Slow Down Honey
Alternative sort of pop band, see some more photos of Slow Down Honey here, don't even move your eyes.
Wal Russ & The Suits
Great surf band, dress well … Wal, the front guy, is a photobomber, and you know, doesn't fit in with the group – also a bit of a showoff ..

Today, I shoot blues, rock bands, solo performers, brass bands – any sort of music really at shows, in pubs, concerts, festivals across Australia or in the South Pacific – and in the studio. No dive is too deep, no festival too far, no face too famous. If you’ve got it, I can shoot it. [...]

I am delighted to be associated with and support the following people and organisations :- Blues Explosion … established by Tony Cini in April 2008 and featuring some of the country’s premier blues and roots performers such as Dallas Frasca, Chase the Sun, Gail Page, PJ O’Brien, Claude Hay, Velvet Rope, Cass Eager, Kim Churchill, [...]
About ♪
I am the man behind the camera behind the lens behind John Snelson Photography – in fact that’s me up there – shot myself in the Pro Guitar & Sound shop, by taking the photo of my reflection in the back of a rather nice Gibson Les Paul guitar. Yes, the guitar is in fact [...]
Mitchell Shadlow
The Bald Rock's an old sandstone boozer in roughhouse Rozelle, more like yer Ma's front parlour than an alehouse. Leadlight windows, fireplaces, groovy – lighting's a challenge. A few more shots of solo country artist Mitchell Shadlow on the stool and guitar. Plenty of "Cat and Bob" … cool, we all knew the words.
Blues Explosion at Towradgi
Congratulations to Tony Cini for putting on this terrific afternoon of the best in Blues Music – featuring Emmaline Finch and John Dallimore, Christina Crofts with Harry Brus and Paul Wheeler plus Simon Kinny-Lewis with Rob Ewan. Here's Tony enjoying the success of the afternoon. Reviews of the bands and photos down the page. Tops [...]
Simon Kinny-Lewis
Last act at the Towradgi Hotel, the Simon- Kinny-Lewis Band .. an entertaining and eclectic mix of blues, jazz and melody – topclass with feeling. Behind Simon, bassist Rob Ewan .. I am not sure who the drummer is at this stage, maybe Gerard or Sim, although I did not recognise them as such. Perhaps [...]
Christina Crofts
Christina's Fender Strat possibly tells you more about her than words might carry. Supported by Harry Brus on the 5-string bass (Kevin Borich Express) and Paul Wheeler (Icehouse) on the tins and skins, this trio of individual, highly talented musicians gave a terrific, high-energy, multi-faceted and rich musical performance – top vocals too from Christina [...]
Emmaline & ‘Slim Hips’
They may be new, they may be young but this outfit kicked off the Blues Explosion at Towradgi Beach Hotel with a great set. Lead by the brilliant lead guitar of "Slim Hips" Dallimore and the smouldering-with-fun songstress Emmaline Finch, this band has a great future. Bill Williams on bass and Jamie Dallimore on keys [...]
Sound Proofed !
They reckon "we're only a covers band" .. well, I'll tell you what, so were The Beatles. Sound Proofed. An eclectic outfit, with Laurainne Marshall as the front. Anyone who can get Melissa Etheridge's jealous and vicious grunt into words like "Does she inject you, seduce you and affect you like the way I do", [...]
